Sometimes teeth can be oddly shaped. In this situation, an oddly shaped tooth can take the beauty away from a smile. This can be quite unfortunate because it can lower your self-esteem and make talking, laughing, and smiling more difficult. Fortunately, cosmetic tooth reshaping can help you improve the appearance of your oddly shaped tooth and enhance your smile.

Our dentist, Dr. Bethaney B. Brenner, is happy to help you know what to expect during treatment so you can feel more comfortable and prepared in the dental chair.

First, our dental team will take a few X-rays. This is required to examine the thickness of the enamel. It’s important that your enamel is thick because your dentist will remove some of it during treatment. If your enamel is thick enough, your dentist will use a special hand piece to shave down, trim, and shape it to your desired appearance. When she is done, she will place a fluoride varnish over the tooth, which will strengthen the tooth enamel, seal the tooth, and prevent tooth sensitivity.

Anesthesia won’t typically be used because the treatment is not invasive enough to need it. This means the treatment is simple and painless. However, if the lack of anesthesia bothers you, our dental team will be happy to cater to your needs and numb your mouth. If desired, we can also give you a dental sedative to help you feel relaxed.
