Are you ever embarrassed by your one stubborn, unattractive tooth that takes away from the beauty of your smile? If so, it’s time to be proud of your smile, and we can help you make that happen by offering to fix your tooth with a dental crown!

What can a dental crown do?
A dental crown can do many things, including:

· Protect a weak tooth from breaking
· Restore a broken tooth
· Strengthen a tooth that has been worn down
· Support a tooth that has a large filling and not a lot of tooth structure left
· Disguise a severely discolored tooth
· Cover a misshapen tooth
· Save a tooth that has been damaged by decay
· Make a cosmetic alteration to your smile
· Cover a dental implant
· Hold a dental bridge in place

What is the process of placing a dental crown?
The process involved in placing a dental crown requires two visits to our office.

Your first visit will involve your dentist taking a few X-rays of your tooth, examining your smile, and deciding if a dental crown is the best option for you. If it is indeed, she will then numb your tooth with a local anesthetic. When your mouth is numb and when you are ready, your dentist will shave the surface of your tooth to allow room for the crown. Then, she will make impressions of your tooth and will send those impressions to the dental lab where your crown will be created.

As you wait for your crown, you will be given a temporary crown. During this time, please do not eat anything chewy or sticky. Doing so could damage or remove the temporary crown.

When your permanent crown is ready, you will come back to our office for your second visit. During this visit, your dentist will check the fit, size, and color of the crown to make sure it fits perfectly within your smile. If it does fit, your dentist will cement the crown into place, giving you the strong, successful, and reliable restoration you deserve.

How do I care for a dental crown?
Your dental crown will not need any special care or treatment once it’s placed. Just remember to brush your teeth twice a day, floss your smile once a day, rinse your mouth with beneficial mouthwash daily, and attend your six month checkups. Doing these four things will keep you on the right track to success.

Dental crowns are great products that can help you finally achieve the smile of your dreams.
