Are you interested in using anti-cavity foods to help you keep tooth decay at bay? If so, good for you! Our dentist, Dr. Bethaney B. Brenner, is happy to hear that you deeply care for your smile and oral health. Now, remember that eating these foods isn’t the only thing you need to do to maintain a top-notch smile. You should eat these foods in addition to having a diligent oral hygiene routine and attending your six-month checkups. The anti-cavity foods you should have include:

-Dairy products: Dairy products can help you prevent cavities because they are known to increase your pH levels, trigger saliva production, and increase your intake of calcium. These things can make the teeth stronger as well as wash the bacteria and food particles away from your mouth. So, make sure to have plenty of milk, sugar-free yogurt, and cheese each day!

-Apples: Eating an apple a day can keep the doctor away, but it can keep the dentist away too! This is because apples produce saliva flow and clean the teeth. In other words, apples can wash the cavity-causing bacteria away and eliminate the stubborn plaque that lives on your teeth and threatens your smile.

-Sugar-free gum: Now, we know you can’t actually eat sugar-free gum, but you can definitely chew it. So, do your best to chew it after each meal. This is a great way to prevent cavities because it helps you produce saliva without harming the teeth.
